I can connect to the internet on my pc, tablet etc buy my Synology NAS is having difficulty.

When I logon to the NAS and open the internet browser I get the message below.

From my PC I can access the NAS via IP address but not by its hostname

    Any ideas?

What are your network configuration settings on the NAS? especially for DNS?

In Diskstation Manager, re-run EZ-Internet. Make sure the Gateway DNS (and everything else) matches that of your new router. Usually, 192.168.?.1.

Have you set a static IP address for the Diskstaion?

    Thanks guys

I changed the DNS to be 192.168.1.1 (it was 192.168.1.254)

I re-run EZ-Internet and it gets a little further but every time I try to open it, it tries to do the setup all over again.

Try changing the DNS to 8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4.

What IP address do you use to log in to your router? The default Gateway and Preferred DNS Server should be the same as this.

Have setup Port Forwarding on the router for the Diskstation? I think its Port 5000 to 5005 for the Diskstation.

Default gateway on the NAS can only be as in the attached image.

I have just added the Port Forwarding range on the router..
I thought that Port Forwarding was only to allow access in? And not out?

Don't use the EZ-Internet Wizard. Use manual settings.
Set DNS to 8.8.8.8 and see if that works.

Port forwarding should not be required for the moment unless you require access to it from externally.

What do you see when you open External Access in the Control Panel?

True, assumed external access was required.

Ill bounce the NAS now and see if that does anything.

I had the same problem on Wednesday and Thursday - a new router as well!

Please go back to the EZ-Internet and run it again and input the Internet Connection details manually - you will be able to change the Default Gateway there to the same as your router IP address.

    I tried this again.
Default Gateway and DNS = 192.168.1.1
I get a warning beside Checking Network Environment
It says "No UPnP router was found. Click next for manual installation."

It then asks me for a router but mine is not listed.
I cant seem to get past that step.

    Thanks

Thanks but it does show a Status of "Ready" at the moment.

From my PC I can connect to the NAS and login at http://192.168.1.23:5000/ but if I try to get to Plex (which is running on the server) at http://192.168.1.23:32400/web from my PC it says This site can’t be reached192.168.1.23 took too long to respond.

No UPnP is a good thing, UPnP is herpes for your lan. Do not enable it.

Is your problem that your Synology NAS cannot connect to the Internet as originally stated or that you cannot connect to Plex on the Synology NAS???

Your Synology firewall could be blocking the Plex server.
    Check the firewall settings.
