Car damaged while parked

Family member parked their Corsa at a local beach today - went away for a walk and came back to this damage to the car. Had been parked along side a "large SUV/4x4, white/silver maybe, possibly Volvo or BMW" - which was gone when they came back - they were sketchy on the details.

Reported to the Guards but not much hope as no CCTV around etc.

But I'm trying to figure out how somebody reversing out/pulling in would cause this. I was thinking maybe a rear door swung open (it was pretty windy) and smacked it OR something else.....any ideas?

And I'm guessing this will be expensive to fix - car is only worth about 2K so may not be worth it....

Hard to tell. But it looks like it was hit by something going into the parking space rather than out.

Unlucky two panels hit. Yeah, I'd go the home job, maybe even just spray it, although filler first would be best .

They definitely didn’t back into something static?

That did cross my mind but I'm fairly convinced they are telling the truth.....maybe as sundodger5 says, it was somebody going in. Maybe the SUV had gone and somebody else tried to park, hit the car and just drove off....not a hope of ever tracking it down I'd say.
