    Hi all.
Wondering if anyone has an opinion on this. I recently purchased a golf just before lockdown. Have not been driving it as cannot get it vrt.
I am getting a fault on the dash as per title. Have checked bulbs but they are all ok. Bulb list says the high beambis a H15 55w but the car has H9 bulb installed. This car had a minor tip to the side but was fully repaired.
    Any suggestions.
    TIA

The H15 would be the combined DRL and high beam on the more basic Golfs without LED DRLs.

If the car has aftermarket LEDs retrofitted in place of halogen bulbs, it may throw up a blown bulb fault.

What is the fault telling you, that the high beam function is faulty or the high beam bulb is failed?

Did this fault just appear now or was it there since you bought it. The high beam function uses a camera/sensor to switch the high beam on/off when it sees oncoming traffic. This is usually built into the windscreen right behind the rear view mirror afaik. If the car was in a tip and/or the windscreen replaced then the high beam camera/sensor might not have been or re-calibrated or replaced properly.

The car does have the DRL's and indicator under the main and dipped beam lights. Im pretty sure the fault has been there since i bought it but not 100% sure. It is the basic S model. Ixwill check the mirror tomorrow. The thing thats throwing me off is when i turn the switch to parking light i dont get the fault but only the DRLs stay illuminated.

Its just comes up "Failt : Vehicle Lighting"
I have checked and there is no camera at the back of the mirror. I dont think the windscreen was replaced. Was very minor damage.

Is that what they told you :)

You'd get that message in Golfs with HID's when a cornering bulb was blown. If you have halogens, you dont have cornering bulbs.

Are all the lamps genuine units?

There was a software update for early Mk7s, 2013's and 14's to rectify an issue where they used to give a warning message for blown bulbs when everything was ok.

I seen pictures of the damage and was only back drivers door. I have done some comparisons with models on usedcarsni and they dont seem to have the headlight/lane assist camera either. I will take it in to VW i think and see what they say.

Have found the headlight assembly on Hella and the bulbs are correct.
I spoke to the guy I purchased the car off and there was a slight crack in the headlight so he replaced with a genuine part.
    Bulb Type
    H7
    H9
    WY21W
    Light Function
    with low beam

    with indicator

    with high beam

    with position light

    with daytime running light (LED)
