Do I have to keep all my payslips?!

    I am clearing out my paperwork and wanted to shred my payslips from my former job; however I read online that you should keep all your payslips in order to access your state pension in the future. Is this really true? Am I supposed to keep the next circa 30 years worth of payslips?!

    Earlier in the year I had asked for a statement of all my stamps in my entire lifetime so far and the amount was correct. So why would I need to keep my payslips as proof considering the government's calculations are right so far?

    If you already have your PRSI record from the Department, then there is no need for the payslips to claim your pension. However, it may be a good idea to keep your P60s if you have them. You never know when you may be asked to prove employment or income for particular years.
