Nissan Navara

Hi folks looking to change the jeep here and looking towards a crew cab as I need the extra seats for the two small ones.

I am veering towards the Navara as the price is in the right range but I know they are cheap because of the fault in the chassis. Something like this

Does anyone have one, what are they like for towing? Is the chassis default in all the models/years?

They are not liked, think theres lots of other problems along with the chassis,

The problem with the chassis is they rust from the inside out and crack and have been known to split or break on the road.

Nissan are fixing so.e of them and buying others back .

Look on the navara groups on facebook for more info.

Kits can be got to brace them

Just from looking online it seems that it was the 2006-2010 models that were affected, anything after that should be ok.

Anything else that they give bother with?

They pretty much solved the timing chain issues in 2012 with the euro 5 engine, they also installed sensors that measure chain stretch, if that happens it goes into limp mode before any damage is done. I've 110000 miles on mine with no issues. But yes pre 2012 models did suffer timing chain breaks and a upgrade duplex chain is available and highly recommended

What are they like for towing a good load?.....say 36 lowland ewes for eg?.....what are they like on juice compared to a land cruiser or hi lux of same hp or age.....say 2012 or 2013 model.

Thanks for that great info. 2012 is stretching the budget to its limits but its doable just

Get a damn good look around the under body as the cvrt goes pretty hard on a yoke down there these days and undoubtedly will only get harder to encourage older vehicles off the road

If you are looking for a good clean one I just traded mine into a dealer in Wexford. It was mint, never had a hard days work in its life, I had it for 4 years, just fancied a newer one. When I bought it in 2016 i treated inside and outside the chassis with bilt hamber dynax, and nissan also did it last year.

Mine was susceptible to everything else.:mad::mad: I would never buy another one. There are plenty of other brands out there that never had such a record of engine and chassis failure as the Knackered Nissan Navara! Rant over!

There's a Nissan dealer in Donegal, huge big yard up the back, a few years ago there were about 10 of the articulated version lined up there, might have been a Pathfinder in the mix as well, wasn't a good sign

They are good value for that reason.

If i was buying one id make sure the chassis was reasonable and buy the repair kits and weld them on and treat the chassis.
And have it in the budget to do so.

There is a lad on facebook in the uk called richie holmes that supplies and fits them if needed
