Aer Lingus- Orlando query

Hi there, I booked flights to Orlando for the 9th June. I've been waiting for cancellation as I'd prefer to get a refund over getting vouchers. Up until the 31st May they had on their website flights being available to be booked in June.

I was wondering if anyone that was supposed to be flying this week has any info on how close to the flight date they were informed of cancellation and offered refunds. I find it a bit strange that at 6 days away from flight they still haven't cancelled.

I’d you book a non-stop flight? The only sales at moment are via JFK with the JFK-MCO leg on a JetBlue. Given that there are still JFK flights, that’s presumably viable unless you are ineligible for entry!

I booked a nonstop flight last year, direct both ways. I've no idea what's going on. had to enter passenger details and was able to do so today.

Is it because flights are still going to and from USA? like they might not cancel at all?

Usually though it's a day or two beforehand i think

121 has not flown since the 16 March so very very unlikely to fly on the 9 June.
Especially as the flight to New York, which is flying, links with Jet Blue to Orlando.

    Check out the process in:

I got an email yesterday cancelling our flight from Orlando to Dub on 15th June. They had rescheduled our outbound flight by 3hrs (Dub-JFK) a few weeks ago and I submitted a refund request and received the refund a few days ago so the booking had been cancelled...but they still sent the flight cancellation email 🙄...no communication between departments apparently...

Why on earth do people need to add such negative sh1te at the end of posts - both here and on other social media.

    We in a pandemic.

    Things will not be perfect.

Accept the new normal and feck off with little petty negatives. They are neither warranted or needed.

“Last year” confuses things; there have been no non-stop EI flights to Orlando since mid March and little expectation that they will resume next week. Have you been rebooked on the connecting flight? That was your opportunity to say “no, I’d rather cancel”.

No, not rebooked. Up until this morning I could go into my booking (added passenger details yesterday) This morning I get the message that it's not possible to manage this booking, contact helpdesk.

I'll see if they send me an Email this morning.

Update: they never sent an email that the flight was cancelled. I waited till 72 hours before the fight and called them. The chap said that it was an internal error and I should have gotten an email. Fair enough, S**t happens. I asked for a refund as flight was cancelled and it was processed then and there. I was told 5 -10 working days and refund would be returned. Happy days, moneys back in the account.

When do we expect flights to Orlando to return to normal?

Have flights booked for August but not pushed on going now with everything.

Have only deposit paid with balance due next week.

Have asked aerlingus to give me credit if I pay the balance but they are unwilling to do so.

That's great, glad things worked out for you. Did they try giving you a voucher first or did they go straight to refund?

Orlando direct in August seems like a real long shot to me.

I'd be inclined to pay the full fare and then play the Aer Lingus
change to cancelled flight game if it looks like it will fly!

Then again easy for me to say, it's not my money :)

If I pay the full fare and I want to change the destination and the cost is less than the original do they give credit for the remaining?

    No. Unfortunately not.

I have flights to Orlando booked with Delta in September and they offered me a refund if I choose to accept it although it will take 10-12 weeks to get the money back.
