Bees

We had a queen bee in our downstairs bathroom ventilation drain last year or could have been the year before.

Got an exterminator round he removed said bee. He told us it was a queen bee is how I know.

This year in the last few months I’ve found three worker bees in the house dying off. One on the kitchen floor, one at a window and one near the door. All very much helpless, I just let the out on a piece of paper.

Anyway my question is could we have a hive in the pipe again? Would a different queen come back maybe?

We sealed the side entrance to the ventilation and turned off the fan mainly to stop birds going in as they had in the past also but there’s probably enough room for an insect like a bee to get in.

I should say the main reason I ask is we have 3 young children in the house that walk around barefoot a lot.

    Thoughts?
    Thanks

three bees in the house in a few months is fairly normal unless you keep the windows closed. if you had a hive nearby i suspect you'd see a lot more.

Fair enough, just thought it a bit odd as we’ve never had bees in the house before through open windows. Been living here 10 years.

Fair point though. Maybe I’m just overthinking it.

I had to look at photos online there and they definitely look like the latter.
