    Hi All
Just curious to see if anyone has seen any of the typical holiday Travel insurers offering Post Covid-19 Travel Insurance?

i.e. Once the skies re-open and DFA approves foreign travel, most existing multi-trip policies will still not cover Covid-19 as it is a "known event"

I am presuming that the insurers will start to offer some sort premium add on which will include Covid-19 coverage, has anyone seen this being offered already?

If you made it to the destination and actually then caught the virus there you would likely be denied travel home at the airport. Will an insurer cover your hotel stay (presuming you get a mild dose) while you recover? Could also have problem that hotels may not allow you stay knowing you have it.

i've wondered about this too, more so for medical cover, imagine travelling to the USA and needing medical cover, they want to know you can pay, at least if we stick to EU we've EHIC to cover medical, cover for extended stay you'll have to cover yourself I'm guessing,

Might take a while for this aspect to play out

At least one UK provider is already offering this:

Hopefully it will trickle down to Irish suppliers.

    thanks for the update Batgurl

    https://www.staysure.co.uk/coronavirus-travel-insurance/

COVID-19: We are delighted to announce our policies cover Emergency Medical and Repatriation Expenses, if you get infected by COVID-19 whilst abroad; please note that this cover only applies to trips undertaken if the FCO have not advised against all or all but essential travel to your destination prior to your departure.

Unfortunately, no cover will apply under any other section of the policy for cover claims related to any coronavirus (including COVID-19).

So it looks like they cover the medical and repatriation part but not the travel interruptions, I think I can pay disruptions out of pocket, its the medical bills that would be the killer! So hopefully it will trickle down here too!
