    What sound did the xbox 360 and Playstation 3 use ?

    you get a laser audio port (I never used that) and there are also stereo pins in the main connector you plug into your display device. There's also HDMI, don't remember if sound over HDMI is supported (probably it is)

    I use an RCA (red and white cable for Left and Right audio channel) coming off the main connector.

    Google Xbox 360 audio cable.

    But if your TV supports sound over HDMI then you probably can get away without it.
