Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

    Hi guys

    I won’t beat around the bush

    My 8 year old nephew is Minecraft obsessed. Yesterday I bought him a new laptop and the full version of Minecraft.

    He is insisting on getting Tektopia Villager Mod. I don’t know what this is and he’s too young to properly articulate what he wants me to do.

    I presume it’s something that is added or implemented into the regular game? He said something about villagers doing the work for him automatically? I haven’t a clue.

    Anyways, how do I find this and install it?

    Really appreciate it

    That should get you through it. Forge is an addon for Minecraft that lets you run mods. It's a slightly involved process, but that guide isn't bad, it's giving. Once Forge is installed, you can get the Tektopia mod installed. If it doesn't go to plan, delete everything and start again, you may have missed a minor step.

    The problem we're having is Step 3- we have the full version of minecraft that came pre installed, but it's not accessible through Minecraft launcher, the game itself is installed as a standalone game on the laptop with its own icon.

    If I download launcher, it wont let me access the full game thats already installed, only offers the demo/trial version or to but full version

    It sounds like you might have the native Windows 10 version of the game rather than the Java one and I'm afraid that it's only the Java one that can make use of the Forge launcher. The difference between them relates to the way Windows 10 native apps work in comparison to the Java one and with the Java version, you have more access to the game's code to make your mods work. Windows apps aren't as open in the same way.

    They might just give you a free copy of the Java version if you log into www.minecraft.net you might be able to download it through there.
