Can anyone tell me what this means for me? I work 3 days a week normally, due to go back in 2 weeks and employer only may have 1 or 2 days available now. Currently on covid payment

If your employer receives if they should be in a position to pay you for the 3 days but it depends on circumstances.

You should continue to get the level of pay that you were getting up to this point, unless of course the rate for 1-2 days is more than the level of subsidy you had been receiving already (unlikely, but possible if your hourly rate is high or if your wage subsidy is low).

Its also unlikely, but depending on the figures, it may be better for you to apply for Jobseekers Benefit/Short-time and claim for the days of unemployment. This will also depend on your underlying rate of Jobseekers Benefit, which is determined by your average wage in 2018. The maximum rate for a full week is 203/week if you were earning 300 euro or more in 2018. Your rate can be as low as 91 Euro if you were earning less than 150 or were on credits in 2018.

You lose 1/5 of your rate for each day you are employed, so if you work 1 day you would get 4/5 of the payment, 3/5 if you work 2 days.

Alternatively, Jobseekers Allowance may be a better payment. This is calculated on means from your days of employment.

It is possible that the combination of the hours that you work plus any Jobseekers Benefit/Jobseekers Allowance entitlement you have is more than you were getting on the wage subsidy scheme. This could lead to complications, as you're not supposed to get TWSS along with Jobseekers, but it should still be an option for you if it works out better.
