My place of work is temporarily closed, will my contract be extended?

My contract of employment is due to end mid June 2020, having started in November 2019. Owing to Covid - 19, my place of work has been temporarily closed since mid March last, and obviously I have not been at work as requested since then.

Just wondering in such a case, are contract durations 'on -hold' until people are instructed it is safe to resume their job again?

    Thank you.

No. You were employed until a certain date, that’s it. Although that doesn’t mean they won’t do anything for you, they’re just not obliged to.

I would think the chance of your contract being renewed is very slim.

    Start looking for another job...

Thanks for the replies so far. I am due to start back at work on a one - day a week basis later in the week. Just wondering where would y'all imagine this leaves being paid?? I am guessing I will only be paid for the one day I actually will be working? Anyone else in a similar position?

These are questions for your employer only, no-one else can answer for you.
