Big Brother Australia 2020

I think the one show that works in social isolation is Big Brother.

Big Brother Australia is my favourite BB after the American one. I've said it before, but the Aussies do reality TV incredibly well. This is the first BB series in Australia since 2014.

Filming finished in April and viewers will decide who wins out of the final two.
Apparently someone is being evicted every night too - not sure how I feel about that. It'll keep the entertainment high, but we'll barely get to know the housemates. Short series?

Watch it for a week and see if it clicks with you. Starts on June 7th.

(To answer the question that is bound to be asked - this is on Aussie TV only and probably won't air in Ireland or the UK.)

Will probably check this one out - think I watched the last season in 2014 and it was really good if I remember correctly.

On the spectrum of UK big brother on one side and US on the other I'm assuming it's a lot closer to the former?

Yeah, the older series used to be much more similar to the UK one, but its been off-air for 6 years, so who knows what the new format might be.

After flying all the way over to Perth only to find out it doesn't actually start until tomorrow.

Angela will irritate a lot of people.

Interesting contestants, great pacing, no arseing about, I really enjoyed that.

That was very very good! Great mix of contestants and very little padding once all the housemates were in.

They must have a serious budget. That frame for the nomination competition would cost a fair bit.
Bodes well for the rest of the competitions.

Can't see Angela going the distance either. :)

Another great show, Allen was found out so quick.

Yeah enjoyed it again, aside from yer man Gar though, didn't really get much of a feel for the new people yet. I do think this quickfire pace works overall though.

I like it, the new format is great but like all reality shows you can tell who the producers want you to like and who they want you to despise. Taliah was so mean to Hannah last night, totally ignoring her guesses that she was a doctor or lawyer and latching onto her saying jokingly that she was a stripper.
Poor Sarah she was dragged along by Taliah to do the dirty work.

I definitely feel like some interesting players are going early. I really liked Soobong and Allen.

I couldn't stand Allen. Was delighted he went. Would've been nice to see Soobong stay longer though.

Is it just Monday-Wednesdays its on yeah?

EDIT: Ah looks like next three episodes are Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday...

Hopefully Talia and Daniel get evicted soon, they think they own that house, glad some people are on to them

    Angela quickly becoming my favourite.

I could never find episode 4 so I paused this.

Decided to jump straight to 5 earlier this week and caught up.

Really great season. Completely changed my opinion of Angela from the first episode - she turned out to be brilliantly entertaining.

Apart from the clever challenges, my favourite thing is Big Brother's droll commentary during the challenges. Very funny.

Episode 13 next Sunday is going to be interesting.
It coincides with COVID lockdown in Australia, so it looks like a skeleton staff are left to run the show (and the last 9 are left in the dark about it - for a while anyway)

Just watched the most recent one. Cast were aware of Covid existing but not of the extent. Heart broke for Sophie talking to her mam in Holland and Chad realising his career is probably screwed.

As a series, I think it's OK. I do feel that they are lacking the POV from US BB because once someone wins, thats it youre dead in the water. At least POV gives HM a fighting chance of survival and it all feels very condensed into one episode with eviction each time.

Yeah I thought the last episode would be more dramatic (the aussies are great at building promos that often fail to live up to the promise).
My Kitchen Rules is notorious for that (in my eyes).

You're right - some of the calls home were tough to listen to.
They really are in a bubble in there.

8 left now, so only 7 episodes to go (assuming it's head to head for the finale).
They might even do a double eviction soon because a day (or two?) was skipped due to the shutdown.

The whiteroom is interesting. Kieran hiding behind the door was a lovely touch. :)

Another great promo really pumps up what happens in today's episode.
I hope the episode delivers as much as the promo promises.

The last one was fun. Delighted for Kieran - he wouldn't have won the main game.

    Finale next week...
