Hi I put in a second hand tow bar on my car it came with the 7 pin socket and the wires attached to the socket.

My question is can I just wire the wires on the 7 pin plug to the respective wires used for inidicating etc on my car or do I need something like this 143078556.jpg

Basically for a 2010 Golf, yes, you will need to fit something like above as the car will have a CAN bus circuit and the above or similar products will sort out errors thrown up for blown bulbs etc

Have a look here at this link for a quick explanation
