Broadband not available in my area?

    Hi,

Tried to sign up to Eir broadband recently. Ordered it and the equipment arrived and when engineer arrived he said basically the cabling outside under the road is inaccessible and said the only option for me was Virgin Media.

Is there anything I can do to find out what the current status is or if there are any plans to make fixed line broadband available in my area? I'm living in Dublin13 and this is not a new development.

    Thank you

It sounds like there is broadband in your area, just not to your house. Perhaps ask the neighbours what broadband that they use? Someone may know a workaround.

thanks - will check with the other neighbours who they are with. The engineer said basically I'd need to get planning permission to dig up my driveway to lay cabling. He said he knew the area and this was the case for a lot of people.
I called Eir sales and they referred me to OpenEir who own the infrastructure but I don't see any number or way to contact them.

Thanks - yes unfortunately do not see any contact details on their site. My eircode tells me broadband is available!

You arent meant to contact OE, the retail ISP should be sorting this for you.

Rang Eir sales. They referred me to OE site and said there is contact details on it which unless my eyes deceive me there isn’t! So they haven’t a clue if they are referring me to someone I shouldn’t be contacting!
What about Eir networks or anybody else I could contact? Thanks

Try a smaller xDSL ISP like Digiweb.
