Banned from giving blood?

I've given blood a few times and the last time I attended I almost fainted, I'm not great with needles but I'm very fit and healthy and a perfect candidate as my blood is Universal blood type which I'm sure they are crying out for.

I called the Irish Blood transfusion service yesterday and they told me I had been taken off the list and I am not allowed. Has this happened anyone else?

I understand they do not want people fainting, however, I did not faint I felt weak and I am more than willing to give blood. I spoke to my own doctor and he said they shouldn't ban me from coming.

Has anyone else had this happen and have they been able to donate again?
