Unfortunately my Audi A5 needs a new flywheel which will be very Costly

Has anyone had this issue before and gone ahead with the repair ?

I’ve never spent this amount of money on a repair before

The car has warranty but only gear box and motor

Have you went back to the dealer? Who diagnosed it as a faulty flywheel? I'd understand a clutch or timing belt being consumable items but you might have a warranty case or discount repair with the garage.

Last time I had one done on a 2006 GTI was about €1200 with an indy, genuine parts and clutch included.

Diesel A5 ? What mileage ? A Dual mass fly wheel would be regarded as a wear and tear item, when it's being done the clutch will be done also.

Flywheel is a consumable nowadays since dual mass ones started getting fitted. Personally, i think its madness that such an expensive repair is regarded as standard maintenance.
My own petrol A5 is on its original clutch and flywheel at 165,000 miles whicj isnt bad going. It does have a dual mass flywheel but petrol ones dont tend to wear as fast as diesels given lower torque, vibration etc.

    A 2 litre tdi , 109k miles

Got a few quotes , best with oem parts and replacing clutch is for 870e

Bit of a disappointment but these things happen

    €850?

    I'd bite their hand off.

That seems like a good price.

To give you a comparison, I had one done (Clutch & DMF) recently on 2011 A6 TDI (Similar engine to yours) €1,100 using oem parts in VAG indy...

I got my clutch and flywheel changed at 185k miles on a diesel A4 because it was knocking.
    Car pulls trailers too

QFT. That's really cheap for a clutch and DMF assuming they really are using OEM parts

That's a great price so long as it isn't a Mr auto jobbie.
