I have a jeep that needs some welding, its a small patch. If I get this welded up before the CVRT test do I still need an engineers cert for the repaired patch? Or do you only require the engineers cert once repaired after a fail?

Most people won't believe me this my personal experience No need for engineering report especial if didn't fail on it . Father had navara fail for rust hole on crossmember on chassis didn't need a engineer report for retest. Maybe it wasn't class as structural

As said, no need once it's not structural and it doesn't matter if it failed already once the rusted part is removed and replaced with at least equal strength steel.

If you can see it needs doing then get it done beforehand.
