    If you're only ever going to use 10m, just buy a 10m extension cable.

    That makes no sense. The cable was probably faulty or got wet etc. Open circuits have no load.

    I would not recommend that extension lead. I have any be very similar also from woodies

    1-Extension leads are not recommended, as proper granny cables have temperature sensors in the plug to try detect worn household sockets that may get hot and go on fire, any extension lead removes this protection

    2- Even with a brand new socket fitted in my house, the cable used on this gets warm during use, as it is cheap and not up to the job.

    3- Anything on a reel is a bad idea, get one without a reel, as if you ever forget to fully unreel you might burn the house down.

    4- The inline waterproof socket is a great idea, but it is too small for many EV granny plugs, some EV granny plugs are extra big to all for the temperature sensor and to make them extra rugged.

    5. I recommend this one

    Try not to use any extension lead regularly. If possible replace the house side socket with a brand new unworn one and use a socket close to the house fuse board. Check the plug and cable is not warm every 15 minutes for the first few hours and try to charge when you are not asleep in case it does start a fire.

    The woodies stuff is cheap for a reason.

    Coils of wire can act as their own load due to EMF from the rising and falling AC sine wave.

    Yes if plugging into a trailing socket outdoors it needs to be waterproof. See that UK link I gave. That has a much physically bigger waterproof socket in case your granny cable has a larger than normal plug such as most Nissan and BMW granny chargers.

    I got one of these driboxes, we've only used it a couple of times when we needed to use the granny cable and the extension lead.

    You can buy them or something very similar in woodies too.
    I use one for splitting the cables at Christmas to put 2 lanterns in the front garden.

    They’ve never leaked on me during my use so are fairly decent.
