Thinking of buying a xiaomi phone from edwaybuy. They say they're the primary agent of Xiaomi. I've heard of honorbuy, geekbuying, eglobalcentral etc but never these guys. They say they have a 30 days return policy, 2 year warranty and the phones are priced pretty competitively.... Is there a catch?

I'm not sure. For delivery, they use DHL from Poland so I presume there's no custom charges?

Just bought from them last week.

PayPal covers payment and UPS for tracked delivery. Very happy with the service tbh.

    European warehouse as well

Good to hear. Was there delivery charge? How long did it take from placing order to getting the phone?

Love it so far battery is amazing as is the fast charge 0 to full in 35 mins.

Amoled 90htz screen is slick and bright.

Upgraded from Poco F1 and it's a good upgrade tbh

Sounds great. I'm leaning towards the Mi Note 10 lite. It's got a huge battery, fast charge , great camera. Kimovil rates it slightly better than the Realme 6 Pro. And I just saw that the Realme is out of stock on edwaybuy.

I ordered a Poco F2 Pro from them in June, got it quick enough, everything ok.

Yesterday it stops charging, I contact them, they tell me to send a video as proof (fair enough). They're telling me it needs a new battery and to bring it to a local vendor for repair... Has anyone heard of something like this before? What's normally the case for a faulty phone, replacement under warranty or repair? Bringing it to a local shop for repair is hardly standard!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

this is where you hit the problem with these "oriental" sales outfits - good prices and they sneak stuff in through Europe avoiding custom VAT but if your device goes down.....

you could try quoting EU consumer law to them - not sure how far that will get you though

try to get them to accept a return - which they don't want at all as they will have to eat the cost of a replacement

Are they willing to cover the cost of repair? If so, then I'd be happy with that.

    that's true enough really.

of course, that's if the problem is the battery.

you are entering a tradeoff when you go for the cheap prices of eglobal etc -> you're not going to get anywhere near amazon service if you get a problem

you can't have your cake and eat it

with most modern devices from decent brands you have less chance of a defect but can happen obviously

Poco are a Xiaomi brand though.

OP Hopefully your local shop has a battery to suit your phone if you go down that route.
