Where approx is she located? Rural or urban?

Enter her eircode here to see if she is inside or outside the national broadband plan area - https://nbi.ie/

Also here to see what's available - https://www.airwire.ie/index.php/avail

Does it matter there was never broadband in the house before or a telephone line

Mobile broadband is handiest. Should get good signal on the city

Would they have to dig up into the house because I’m just wondering how much they would charge

    Not a bit.
Just plug the router into a socket.
The advantage to mobile is that it can be moved around. It's like using your mobile phone only with much more data available
They usually give a 2 week trial so if the reception is unusually poor the contract gets cancelled

It shouldn't. Try entering her eircode as per The Cush's post and see what services are available. Then check with each provider how much they charge to install that service and per month costs. Fixed line would be less headachy than mobile bb if she can get it. I'd try for fixed line first as mobile can be hit and miss depending on mast congestion and other factors.

Yes I see what you mean but in order to have the fixed line would the house have to have a cable going into it my mom s house never had internet even a landline so I was worried they would charge loads

    Get the mobile broadband.
If not happy with it in trial period, send it back

A fixed line should be just drilling a hole in the exterior wall to feed in the cable.

Is Virgin Media TV cable going to the house, they do broadband also over the TV cable.

Have a look at some of these providers via their websites, e.g. airwire, eir, sky, digiweb etc. Not all will serve your area.
