Hey folks, I bought this and am pretty impressed with it. It works as a dual dash camera, front and back, and can switch to the reverse screen automagically when the vehicle is put into reverse. On top of this, it's running android and has wifi, can tether and can use 4g. This allows you to communicate with it remotely and you can fetch photos and video clips and even see a live feed of what the cameras see, and speak through the app on the phone and you'll hear it through the mirror, as long as it's hooked up to a constant power supply. It has GPS too so you can see exactly where your vehicle is.

Anyway... with all these good things about it... I didn't realise when buying it that it won't work on Irish/UK sim cards :(

They seem to be pretty popular in Asia, there's a lot of similar designs by different manufacturers available on the likes of ali express, bang good etc, I don't know why they aren't more popular here.

As an workaround, I can use a dongle to put a data sim in and the mirror can connect to this, but some features such as the live feed are not possible unless you've a sim card in the device itself.

I'm just wondering, has anyone come across another make/model that has all the same features and is decent quality, but also accepts Irish/UK sim cards?

Any feedback would be great :)

Is it that the 4G won't work/can't connect? IE: Is it an APN issue, or an actual connectivity to the network issue? In theory it should still be able to connect to the Irish networks, at worst on 2G or it's set to 4G only meaning you may need to change settings, or it's only operating at specific bands/frequencies. Pop up the model etc on this and I'll see if I can figure it out

Ooops, I forgot to add the hyperlink to the "this" text in my OP :o

So I'm trying to get this three sim to work in this device, but it's not even recognising the sim at all and says "no sim" in the android menu when the sim is in. I've waited for it to recognise it, I've rebooted, still no luck. Then I remembered about the bands and as I bought this from Asia, thinking it may be something to do with this? I tried my regular sim in it and still no luck, and I tried the 3 sim in my phone and it works fine.

I'm not sure what band the SIM is, but it says this on the product page:

I'm guessing this is the issue so? :o

I'll probably have to get a wifi dongle or tether from an old phone for the three sim and have the camera connect to that

Any feedback would be great :)

No sim is nothing to do with bands unfortunately. It's literally not able to see that the SIM is in. Sometimes these devices have dodgy SIM slots and the Sims need to more snug to work.

Also, sometimes the SDcard slot is the same as the SIM slot also

Thanks for the reply. Is the sim still not compatible with the bands either way though do you know?

The sim and SD have two separate slots, but right beside eachother.

Looks like they're unsupported bands, however 3G should still work.

It really should be saying "no network" as oppose to "no sim". Is it a "full size SIM" or one if the micro/macro ones?

Make sure you disable the pin code on the simcard in a phone first before putting it into the mirror, if you haven't done that already try again and see if your in business

Thanks again for the replies. I tried that with my own sim in it, and it didn't work unfortunately :( It's android anyway so would probably have prompted me if there were issues.

Really puzzling whether it's something to do with the sims I'm putting in and their bands or type, or whether it's a dodgy device

It's a micro sim by the way!
