Well I’ve had all the time on my hands and no excuses. So I’ve made up a few k ives for the season ahead.
I’ll give them out to friends to test drive and then refine the designs.

This is the clutch so far.

From heat treating them in a forge they come out with a strong surface oxide layer over the stainless steel. I’ve left that on a few as it should wear well with usage and add a bit of character over time.
Or not and then I’ll never do it again.

On a few more I’ve hand sanded them till mirror finish.
These will all be rabbiting knives for out lampung or general stalking knives.

Very nice work, I like the orange and green handle, there is a nice shape to it. Always wanted to have a go at it as I love forged in Fire and I’m a metal fabricator by trade too. Just no time at the minute, maybe when the kids are a bit older.

This I wanted to make a tough tool with minimal fat on it.
3mm steel so should be very capable. Made from AEB-L steel, a stainless steel developed for razors.

Lidl angle grinder and hand files. It got a 2 x 72 belt grinder last week. A lot easier.

    I’m using AEB-L, RWL34 and 12C27.
Got it from a crowd in Finland called Brisa.

This is something i really want to give a go! Would you mind sharing where you sourced your kiln or how to do heat treat the steel? Also where did you get your 2 x 72 belt grinder?

Fair play your workmanship is really good!

Hey to start your shopping list check out devil forge, but better to take a look on you tube on how to make an electric kiln, would be way better going forwards. I did a half dozen of the knives above with an angle grinder and handfiles. You'd go a long way with them.

I got a belt grinder from donedeal. But there's a ton about and you can go way up in price. depends how far you want to go.

Heat treat depends on the steels and use you want for the knives. there there's a recipe for each
