    Hi
My sky box, freeview, says 'no satellite signal is being received'.

    2 questions to begin with

After I check all the connections, is my next step to get the ladder out and have a look at the dish?

Before I do the above; is freeview still broadcasting?

    Thanks!

Given the wind today it probably has moved.

I assume you mean that you have a FreeSat box. FreeView is a digital terrestrial service and therefore not received by a satellite dish.

After checking all connections, I would check to see that the dish has not moved due to wind etc. If not, the LNB might have failed. Simple and cheap to replace.

Thanks folks, I'll venture up the ladder when the wind abates.

Update: I bought a replacement LNB, but no luck at all.

I've tried rotating it, sliding it back and forward in the clamp, but no movement on the signal numbers on the box. (pic attached)

I'm thinking now that maybe I can think outside the box so to speak and so something different with that satellite dish?

    Any ideas?

It's very fine the tuning, you could literally have crystal clear tv and moving the dish 4 or 5mm you would have nothing. Have you tried moving it really slow and checking?

I'll give it another lash, I had an impatient teenager in the tv room relaying feedback to me that time :)

Edit, actually reading your post again. i'm not moving the dish at all. Just the LNB. I'm as sure as I can be that the dish hasn't moved. It's fairly well rusted in there.

Another option would be to bring the box to a friend or neighbour who has a working dish and see if your box works on that, might be easier than adjusting the dish to rule out the box being bad. Once cabling is connected correctly at both box and lnb next course of action is to move the dish.

Another issue could be the cabling, it can fail, I've had this issue previously.

Same issue here. My mother has 2 boxes in separate houses and both of them have the same issue.
Can't be dish or LNB either as she has a FTA box with perfect signal and picture running off the same LNB.
I wonder if sky have done something to disable the box, or does the box need firmware update

You can get a signal finder in Powercity for about €10, I have one years, it has been by family and friends many times, a handy item to have.
