Hello, as per title, I need to de-register from income tax starting from 1-1-2020.

I am registered online on myRevenue. Can you please help in guiding me trough the process?

    Thank you in advance!

You can’t. What exactly are you trying to do?

Why? I am non resident and have nothing to declare in Ireland from this year onward. I understood that I can de-register for IT purposes. What alternative you have? Thanks!

Presuming you’re an individual and not a business, you just do nothing.

OK, that's weird. I am an individual, my accountant mentioned that possibility and was asking for my approval. He now disappeared and wanted to do that myself that's why was asking here.

Maybe he meant something different? But that is the phrasing he used.

Were you employed or self-employed? Did he mean de-register from self-assessment?

Last couple of years I have submitted a form 11, so I guess he meant de-register from self-assessment. It makes sense indeed. Can I do that on my own contacting Revenue or through myAccount? Thanks!

Complete a TRCN1 form. Put your cease date as 31/12/19 or you'll still have have to file a return for 2020.

Thank you. Is this form also valid for non-resident landlords?

I recently became non resident and declared that on myrevenue. That sorted the tax details too op. So I believe that's a good action if you were previously resident here.

If you are no longer a non resident landlord and have no taxable income in Ireland, then that form would be fine. Have you filed your final income tax return for 2019?

thanks for your reply. do you then mean that instead of sending TRCN1 form you have de-registered from self-assessment online? if so, can you please explain how? thanks!

You can cancel a self-assessment registration online on ROS. i.e. through the main ROS protal using your digital certificate.

You can alternatively file a paper TRCN1.

The simplest way however to do this is to request your agent(accountant) to do it for you via their ROS access.

Thank you Stratvs, I do not have a ROS account, just myAccount. I will then send a TRCN1 form then.
