    Hi all,
as above a stupid question but what PSI should by tube be for my Giant Contender 2 ?

The tube I have is a conti tube Race (700c)
First puncture believe it or not (mind you only do maybe 30km a week). Put tube in and pumped with a small crappy hand pump on the road and it got me back. A friend gave me a hand pump with presure gauge but don't want to put the PSI to high and cause it to pop.

it should say on the side of the tyre wall what the pressure you should be pumping it too..

I usually pump to 120 psi (i think the max on my tires is 130 psi). A lot depends on surface you are riding on your weight road conditions (wet/dry) etc

i think that has 28mm tyres, one rule of thumb is go for a PSI roughly equivalent to your body weight in kilos.

wouldn't really suffice though if you were 60kg would it?

    might do, just wondering

i pump my 25mm bike tyres to 80, and me and the bike combined weigh more than 80; only time i've ever had pinch flats were when i left it too long without topping them up. last time it happened, the unpunctured tyre had dropped to about 50.

don't forget - that's the max, not necessarily the optimum.

there's a handy graph here; note that it's the load *per wheel*, so halving the total.

If I'm reading that right ...its saying 90 PSI..so will go with that and see .

As mentioned not doing big distances so will fine tune as I ride.

    Again , thanks all !
