 Is this possible? Can I watch Netflix, on my 22" monitor, through some combination of wires and plugs from my (Basic Android) phone?

    Thanks.

At a glance? That seems to need a TV?

Has the monitor a HDMI connection?

as long as your phone can do it, an otg to hdmi cable should do the job.

A few things here. If you have a monitor then I presume it's connected to a PC? If so then why not watch Netflix through that.

Unless your monitor has speakers using a Chromecast with your phone means you wont' have any sound.

I went looking for that cable, got the name wrong yesterday.

Its HDMI to micro USB cable.

There is a piece of software called apowersoft which might work too

I'm currently watching through a pc. But, my internet has shrunk so much now that I'd find it incredibly hard to end up chucking 300+ at another one, when this one goes, just to glance at a few half dead fora. I can do that on my phone.

Netflix / chube is the only thing.

Hang on .... Wouldn't the sound come out of my phone? In which case I could stick my earphones in?

Not sure. Never tried it. I'll test and let you know.

    EDIT: Tried it, doesn't work

Unless you can get a combination device then you might require

    1. cable from phone socket to HDMI (cable to suit phone)

    plugged into

    2. HDMI input of audio extractor/breakout box

with the outputs of 2. going to

    a. HDMI cable to monitor
    b. audio cable to speaker input.

    This video gives an example.
(pity he doesn't know the difference between source and sink :D)

I only watched the beginning to make sure it dealt with the correct topic ...

    and another one

There are lots to choose from with varying prices.

Got my eye on this one, John:

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B06XFZXTYW/ref=dp_cerb_3

Seems to tick the boxes. So many have Left and Right speaker jacks. My speakers just have a single, 3.5mm jack.

Sorry to have seemed to have walked away. Too many plates spinning.

Once you are sure you can get a working output to HDMI from your phone, you should be OK.

I have no experience of doing this with a phone. ;)

A thread, on a place far away, somehow morphed into people badgering me about completely unrelated stuff. Would ye believe they pushed it round to This question?! I was asking about Amazon!!!

But, yeah, someone asked what phone I had. Then told me I needed 'one of these'. No speaker hole on it. But, I've learned to smile and nod  That would seem to indicate my particular phone can indeed by run through the sort of concept we're talking though.

Basically, the one I'm proposing looks like a better quality, more advanced thing. And has my 3.5mm jack plug hole :)

Before you go buying any cable or adapter you need to check if your phone can output to HDMI via MHL.
If your phone does not support MHL, no cable or adapter will work.

The are loads of free apps that will tell you whether your phone supports MHL, install one and check.

:( Oh. Well, that ended badly. Seems my Huawei Y6 2019 isn't compatible.

Thanks for saving me from buying yet another thing to throw in the overflowing drawer full of wrong and useless things I have.
