    Can I ask if there’s a cheaper alternative ?
    We’ve a back garden we don’t want.
Would prefer solid ground for kids toys swings trampoline etc but concreting is coming in at over 3000€.
Read elsewhere on here about a gravel which seems to compact.

    Thank you

    Grow something.

Strawberries rasberries rhubarb come back again and again with pratically no maintenance

Loads of other stuff with a bit more effort

Do it. You and your children will never look back

You cannot concrete it all over, breach of planning: google SUDS

also on the kids aspect surely you'd rather them falling on to the softer grass/mud than onto solid concrete or gravel? especially from trampolines/swings...etc

I'd try the playground matting stuff myself. Google it and see if it might be an option. It does require some groundwork, but so does concrete.

It's a prehistoric move, and environmentally very irresponsible.

Just put in a bit of work and get decent grass garden.

Self bind gravel. I think the likes of Roadstone or other such companies supply it. Most of the pathways in parks, trails etc use it. Fairly strong wearing too.
