Site Block Plan

Hello, hopefully somebody here may be able to help me with this one as I'm a bit of a novice with this sort of thing! I am putting together a planning application and have purchased the planning pack (A4) 1:1000 scale from OSI so that covers off the site location drawing required. I am wondering is there a common or simple way to do the site block plan drawing that I'm missing? Like for example can you use a tool to make a cad drawing of your immediate area and edit in AutoCAD? From what I've seen in previous applications it looks like some have zoomed in on their OSI map and added the new additions to the existing house but I think that infringes on the terms of use? Any help would be great.

Scan it into cad. Scale the jpeg using the scale bar. Draw over it.
