Hi someone placed a crate with free books in it outside my garden wall. I don't know who the person is. So I took them into my custody for safe keeping hoping the person might call to my house. I don't want them outside my house esp during covid. Could be dangerous and I didn't want to report them to the authorities as I don't want to go to court. They were there last night at 12.30a.m. so I thought that was unusual. So took them in. Any advice welcome.

    don't over think it.

Is there a nursing home near you, I know the kill rate is pretty severe but there is plenty to replace them
They would take them, assuming of course that its not Hustler etc.. if it is PM me:D

I think you should hand them in to the Gardaí. There's no reason IMO why you could end up in court. Whoever left them there might come back looking for them and call the Gardaí to see if they were handed in. Otherwise, you could leave a note with your phone number on your wall saying that an item of property was left there at a particular time and if the person who left the books there there comes back looking for them and sees it, they can call you.

Should have just left them at the Kerb side. Guarantee you they would have been gone the next day. The chances of catching coronovirus from a book is minimal and whoever would pick them up would know the risk. Stick them back out and wait for them to vanish.
