Hi all just wondering has anyone used or come across a quick release water fittings other than the hozelock type. Ones that maybe thread together by hand or something like the old hydraulic quick releases.

I use gripmax fittings as they are all hand tightened. A fitting can be changed quickly enough but haven't heard of any "quick release" type

Search camlock water fittings. I've used them in industrial applications. Never liked them that much though. Definitely a gap in the market for a good quality quick release water fittings.

Penny wise, pound foolish. I was like you and many of the gripmax are now leaking, especially the straight 3/4" couplings. I only buy philmac now as I really have better things to do than looking for leaks.

Glad to say I haven't found any leaks yet, have been using them for a few years now. Only on 1/2" normal gauge pipe so that might make a difference.

Been using Philmac lately, and they work well.
I would advise buying the proper poly pipe cutters, as they more or less guarantee a straight cut.
Also, if you are using the push-in inserts, just do it by hand.
The inserts are brittle enough, and hitting them in with the side of a spanner or vice-grips can shatter off a piece, guaranteeing a leak.

    As previously posted.

Philmac, I've been using for years. Hand tighten. There is a different insert If using with light gauge piping.

They are on the expensive end. That said, I like to do a job only once

OK Philmac seems to be the one thanks everyone.

As stated earlier - I think the cutters is 50% of the battle. Example below - shop around, cheaper elsewhere,

If using Philmac fittings, use these Philmac spanners to tighten. Great job to get that extra 1/2 turn. You'll need 2.
