Virgin Wifi Extender

living in a 3 floor house with the standard virgin router in the bottom floor and an office up in the attic. The signal is pretty weak (I guess understandibly) in the attic.

What would a good way to strengten the signal signficantly? A wifi extender placed on the middle floor? if so does anyone have a specific success story with the current virgin router

I’ve installed mesh WiFi systems for a few people and they Are the best option. You would need to turn off the 2.4 WiFi in the virgin router.

what systems would you recommend? Would be keen to have a high functioning WIFI for WFH purposes

I’ve used the Nova 6 and for the price is very good. The google mesh and Ereo and Ubiquiti Amlifi are excellent but are 500+. It depends on what you’re doing and how much you want to pay. Also if your broadband is 80meg you are not going to get much benefit from having internal WiFi running at 300meg.

I have just had virgin installed today and also live in a 3 story house and have an office on the top floor. I have been using a pair of ASUS RT-AC67Us as a wifi mesh on Vodafone up to now which have worked well. I also use a smart DNS service for iplayer etc but it turns out you cant update the DNS or from what I can tell do port forwarding in the virgin hub 3.0 router.

The RT-AC67U in AP mode it connects fine to the virgin hub, but cant update the DNS addresses of the Asus in AP mode and cant update the DNS addresses full stop in the virgin hub. Any ways round this?
