Imported a vehicle from UK but couldn't vrt because centres are closed and probably will be closed for some time yet. I want to sell the car now to another person in Ireland but the receipt from the UK owner is in my name. Will the new person be able to vrt the car or only I can do it? Meaning that i cannot sell the car until I do the vrt myself which might be in July or August or even longer due to back logging.

The receipt from the UK owner to you is irrelevant to you selling it now. New owner will need a new receipt from you otherwise they will get stung for late VRT penalties from the date of the receipt when you brought it into the country.

If the new owner presents the car with a receipt indicating the car was purchased in southern ireland the vrt people will just ask for proof of date of entry into the state. (happened to me). You can give them the receipt you have and when they fill out section 3 of the vrt form they will enter your details as your the one who imported the car. They will most likely pay late fees and then appeal and get refunded.

Anyway thats not your problem. Depending on the brand a uk reg car is usually an easy sell. Travellers love them especially if there cheap and high mileage.
