Graphics Card and RAM upgrade

Hello all, I put together a computer based on advice here some years ago, but I was thinking about upgrading the GPU, and maybe improving the RAM. I was playing Doom Eternal recently and I wasn't able to hit 60FPS on high setting anymore which is annoying, and I want it to be in good condition for stuff like Cyberpunk 2077. I have up to 500 Euro I can spend on both components, I can go beyond that if need be but I'd prefer to stay around that number, does anybody have any ideas of what I should go for?

My current computer mostly works fine after I built it, but I'm still pretty ignorant about computers in general and haven't touched it much since it was built, so I don't know what would be the best stuff to add to this and if there are any obvious bottlenecks that won't be improved with a new card. Any advice in this area would be highly appreciated.

RX 5700 is around 84% more powerful than GTX 1060 3Gb, also has 8Gb VRAM which allows games to allocate more resources to graphics (e.g. textures).

It is a major upgrade but keep in mind also that the 3GB vram on your 1060 is killing it at high/ultra settings in new games.

If you turn textures down to low or medium it should perform much better.

In some games the GTX1060 6GB, usually about 10% faster core, is almost 200% the speed of the GTX1060 3GB for this reason.

Just as a stop gap while you wait for your new card.

It's definatly the graphics card. I sold my 1060 3gb on. Had nothing but issues with it.

So I looked into this Graphics Card and it won't fit into my current motherboard, and by extension isn't very snug in the case.

I think I might just do an entirely new computer and get a motherboard large enough to house the card, and a case large enough to house the board, do you or anyone else have any suggestions about these two things?

Additionally, I think I would like a better CPU, something with a lot more single core performance so games like Stellaris don't struggle, so I'm open to hearing what people recommend that would compliment this card nicely.

Do you mean the case is too small for the card you want? Your motherboard will support any graphics card.

The graphics cared definitely will not fit into the motherboard I have, the slot is just too small. I assume if I got a larger board it would probably be a good idea to get a larger case.

It will fit 100%. All graphics cards are a standard size. Any graphics card is compatible with your motherboard.

OK, I may go with that then, just one other question, I only have a couple of 6 pin power connectors, will that be ok for this card?

Edit: Ok, I was actually able to find two 8 pin cables, do both need to be connected into the card to work properly?

Bumping this thread if anyone has any input, I'm looking to upgrade my card and RAM again, I want to get the new Indiana Jones game so I'll need something that can handle raytracing, and I think I should improve my RAM while I'm at it.

I have a fair bit of money I can spend on this, up to about 600 euros. I was hoping to get something that's good for Raytracing since I wouldn't mind trying it on things like Cyberpunk 2077 as well.

I'm not quite sure where to go, but looking at another build here, I was wondering if this RAM and this GPU would be worth considering

I also asked on another forum and they recommended an Nvidia 4070 or an RX 6800, but I don't really know the ins and outs of this.

If anyone has any other thoughts on things I should consider changing please let me know.

The GPU is solid, 32GB of Ram is solid too but you need ram compatiable with your motherboard, unless I am missing something your board is definitely not compatiable with DDR5.

I would also recommend a proper 1 or 2TB NVME.

These days playing games off a mechanical storage drive is a pain. Keep the storage drive but use it for media, downloads, random storage and all that.

You can't use DDR5 without changing motherboard. DDR4 + DDR5 use different slot sizes.
2x16GB G.Skill Ripjaws V / Trident Z at DDR4-3600 CL18 should do fine. Just enable X.M.P. in BIOS to get full speed.

Indiana Jones & Cyberpunk have a "path-tracing" mode but that requires an Nvidia RTX 4070, or better, to run (along with DLSS).

If you can, hold off until January for next generation of GPUs.
