    Hi all.
I have a concrete garden shed approx 15 feet by 7 feet. There is currently some foam in the wall. I wanted to get it sound proofed with thick insulation material and ventilated. Any idea how much it would cost and any reputable person to do it ?

This is one of those how long is a piece of string questions. 'Sound Proofed' is vague. If you really need it sound proofed like a recording studio then it's going to cost an arm and a leg. You'll need specialist materials and a contractor with experience who knows what he's at. You'll also need a designer to oversee it all. If you want it sound proofed as little jimmy is going to hang out with his friends in it that's a completely different level of sound.

Presuming it's for something like a home office or 'den' for the kids to play xbox with friends you'd be find drylining the inside of it with 50mm of insulated plasterboard and sticking a vent on the walls and ceiling. This is not considered 'thick' insulation but would make it usable. If you want to add insulation to the floor an idea would be put down a radon barrier on top of the existing floor, then 50mm insulation, then separating layer of polythene, then T&G OSB boards, then a laminate timber floor with an underlay. You'd need 50mm battens to the perimeter and under the door. Put in a new door and windows and you've a great home office or Den for the kids. You'll get any local builder to do this in no time for less than €5k which could include a few power points, lights, an electrical wall heater, skirting and it all painted. It could be lovely.

If you wanted to super insulate the shed, dig out the floor, get high performance triple glazed windows, make it fully airtight and have a small MVHR unit you could spend four times that easily.

    Thanks a Mill for that.

To clarify-im just looking to give ample sound proofing in it to block out the sound of neighbours dogs.

We have guests comign to stay so i would use it for a little escape where i could sleep.Im not bothered about aesthetics, just want a comfy place to stay so would just put a bed in it.

I think the insulation Boards 50mm should work.I take it they would reduce or minimise most sound?

Im not even bothered about plastering it just making it comfortable and minimising noise.

WOuld you put those boards on the roof?

Not on the roof but on the ceiling Joyce's and yes insulated board should be put on the ceiling presuming the roof in between the rafters is already insulated. I sent you a pm with very decent quote which would include skimming

No you would put the insulated board on the ceiling presuming in between the rafters is already insulated. The insulated board goes directly onto the ceiling Joyce's. I sent you a pm with a very decent quote that would include the whole lot skimmed aswell
