What is peoples opinion on interior seat covers.

I am looking at buying high end sear covers for car.

My budget can stretch to 150/200 to get a better quality fit.
I've seen quite nice colours on aliexpress... (did anyone on here buy any?) From china
My car is a Hyundai i40 estate 2013 in dark grey which I intend keeping for long time.

I've bought seat covers like most people over the years for 30 quid , 50 quid and I've never been totally happy with them but did anyone ever buy custom made.

I think they're awful and makes your car feel like a taxi.
I'd be skeptical about the quality of the ones on Aliexpress, but could be open to them if i'd seen them in the flesh.

Unless you're going to have a dog in the car, or you get the seats particularly dirty yourself, then I'd invest the money into a wet and dry hoover instead.

Even if they are "high-end" people can still see there are covers on your seats.

What is your reason to have covers at all?
Are current seats cloth or leather?

I suppose I have 3 young kids and 2 dogs I have in car every day and I came across these a few years ago but knew I was changing car. I think they look decent enough and it says they are custom made for car.

I have free access to a rug doctor which I've used a bit over the years as it can be used as upholstery vacume.

Being from china I'm well aware they would prob take a while to come.

I'm not sure myslef but hay if I do go for it at least I can take one for the team and report back . ;)

There isn’t a hope they’ll look like the ones in the picture.

The difference between covers and original seats is that on the original seat the material is pinned to the frame of the seat at certain points so the fabric pulls tight into the seat. The covers don’t do that so will be baggy.

Seat covers are tat of the highest order and totally destroy any nice motor. Don't do it.

Might be better to look at getting the existing seats reupholstered in leather or see if you can get a set of replacement leather seats and door cards from a car in a scrap yard. Leather is a lot more child friendly when it comes to stains and spills.

If it saves the seats from getting damaged then it'll keep it a nice motor when trying to sell instead of having to clean/replace them or lose money when selling. Personally I don't like, or need, them but the OP wants to protect their car so no harm in getting them even if they do look crap they'll keep the seats in good condition.

I buy a car for me not the next owner.

And, the OP has said he has a 7 year old Hyundai which he intends to keep for a long time. I doubt that there will be another owner.

There are things like Scotchgard Fabric Protector you can spray onto the seats if protecting them is the main drive behind getting covers.

    And maybe

If you don't care about the next owner of your car why do you care what a stranger does to their car?

For what it’s worth I had my last Ford Galaxy covered with these guys. It’s tough as nails stuff. Perfect for those of us with small kids.

Yes it doesn’t look like real leather but it’s still smart looking and comfortable, not loose fitting like halford yolks.

Well worth the money and I will be getting my new Galaxy done at some point when I can scrape together the money for it. You’ll get it back in no need for getting professional cleans done every now and then.

I am no way affiliated with them btw. Just found them decent

My old Galaxy for sale. <please use this thread to sell https://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=113379296>

It’s not my garage ffs. Could care less if it’s sold or not. Was showing it for the seats in case anyone wanted to look at them.

Not a fan of the car seat covers.

Dont see the point in them at all.

Do you keep car seat covers on during your life of ownership to take them off when the car has reached the end of its life to display new looking seats?

Better keeping your €150-€200 and spending €50 once or twice a year on a mini valet and get the seats cleaned, or even better, buy a good seat steamer in Argos and do them yourself.

I'm a factory standard kind of guy. :-)

I know a lot of people are negative towards seat cover ...myslef included , I've had nothing but negative experience from owning seat covers ....

I just saw this site and wondered if they were as good as reviews were which seem very high.

I will post up a few customer images to see what people think....

    They look so cheap IMO

Personally I don't like seat covers. I find that they can squash the side bolsters a bit, making the seat less comfortable. Also generally they look horrid.

If you are spending €100 plus, don't bother and get a wet/dry vacuum instead and wash the seats.

My main problem with seat covers is now cars have airbags in the seats and I'd be afraid of the cover interfering with the airbag deployment.
