Gas Consumption After Installation of Expansion Valve

I recently had a problem with my gas boiler I had it serviced and subsequently had an expansion valve installed and since then my gas consumption has almost doubled, is this normal?

Is the expansion valve leaking? Why was it replaced?

I am so stupid, the consumption has not massively increased, when I viewed my usage I saw the graph way up, I didn't realise it was a yearly graph, and thought my usage March - May was sky high, infact it is a year to date total !!!! Duh.

Think because of Covid I must be losing my marbles :-)
