Front tooth discolouration after fall

    Hello,

In the absence of my own dentist being open, I was wondering if someone on here might be able to shed some light on something for me. At the start of the pandemic, I had a bad fall and landed face first, done a fair bit of damage to my mouth and hit my front tooth. Had to go to A&E and my dentist, she did x ray's and thought the tooth had good feeling etc.

I had to come back in 3 weeks but surgery closed then due to Covid. About a fortnight after the fall, I noticed the bottom of my right tooth (the one I hurt) started to discolour almost in a line at the bottom only. For a few weeks after the fall my tooth was agony to touch and cleaning was so painful and I had a lot of residue on my teeth from my healing mouth so I thought it might be from that but now it's still the same even though the pain is gone and my bite is restored.

I was looking up bonding online, I'm extremely self conscious of smiling now and it's really upsetting me. Can anyone offer any advice as to what this might be?

I've attached a pic. Thank you so much.

It's hard to assess from the photo but your dentist should be able to improve the appearance of the tooth. You could email them another photo so that they can plan ahead for your visit.
The gums look red& swollen- lots of gentle brushing& flossing should help there.
Many dental surgeries are reopening but it's going to be a much different process than before. Also, first priority will need to be given to those with severe infections& longstanding pain, in particular the elderly, children, & immunocompromised.
At least in a pandemic there is a completely legitimate reason for wearing a mask when out & about if you're conscious of the tooth, until an appointment becomes available.

    Hi Dianthus,

Thank you very much for your reply, it is much appreciated.
I have upped my dental routine now that the pain has subsided and I can use my electric toothbrush again, I definitely let it slide a bit after the fall as touching my teeth was agony.

Thank you for the advice about emailing the photo in advance, I will do that indeed. Hopefully, as you say, my dentist will be able to improve it somehow.

    Thank you again.
