Sponging old ewes

I had a few old ewes that hadn't any lambs this year. I'd like to get a few more ewe lambs out of them and was wondering would it be worth my while sponging them next year or let them come in season normally. (Granted I'll be looking at lambing mid March onwards)

    Thanks

Would you not be better selling them as culls and buying hoggets?
