What are the instructions? Turn off push down then turn on to hold it in position is what I'd try.

    Hi Folk,

Just got a gas barbecue and we have a gas cylinder but for some reason I cannot get it to engage. I have attached the photos and I'm thinking the regulator might not be the correct type for the cylinder itself. Any help would be appreciated

Looks like the regulator and bottle type differ.

Different head needed for most common cylinders.... easily swapped over....

I just changed the head for the standard one to fit cylinder like you would use in superser as had 2 tanks there....

If I placed the regulator directly above the nozzle it would almost fit except for a fraction of the washer preventing it coming down. Thanks for the info

I had a similar issue a few years when I bought a bbq. You have 2 options, either buy a propane, patio gas cylinder or buy a butane head for the bbq.
Propane is supposed to work better with bbqs but it's personal preference.

Yup it's a patio gas cylinder you need. Had same issue a few years ago when got a new BBQ and wrecked my head until I figured it out.

Change the head unless you can exchange the cylinder.

Did you get the BBQ from the UK? It's a, different connection.
I had to get a new regulator in woodies after buying from Amazon.

It's the correct regulator for a propane / patio gas cylinder which is what barbecues are being fitted with these days, nothing to do with the UK.

What you have there is a butane cylinder.

Go back to where you got the butane cylinder and replace it with a propane one, job done.

Calor do free home delivery of propane bottles if you need it or a Maxol should be able to sort you.

Got the cylinder from another store as the place I got the original from was shut at 1pm today. Shouldn't be an issue returning it on Monday when they reopen.

Probably won't refund for the full cylinder once you've removed the plastic seal. Who would buy a cylinder which has been opened.

They actually don't have a plastic seal on them originally from this depot. I buy all my fuel from them so I shouldn't run into any problems with the guys there.

Why aren't you just buying a jumbo regulator?

You don't need expensive patio gas for a BBQ. €15 for a regulator job done.
