Why not check with your local tool shop and see if they can deliver, most are doing so and we are keeping Irish jobs in our communities.
thanks what I am doing for every thing and not sending profits abroad

screwfix can have good deals, but with Covid-19 I found lots of the stores "Out of Stock".

MyDiy.ie I have gotten stuff before and they did good deals. The delivery may be a little slower with everything going on.

Screw fix seem to be operating very limited radius delivery from stores.

There’s no difference ordering from an Irish website or buying in an Irish store, the profits stay in Ireland. It’s not like my local store are making circular saws.

I always try to find local suppliers that are close in price, but usually they're not even close for power tools.

    Random example:

BOSCH GCM 12 SDE MITRE SAW

    €915.00 from McQuillan
    https://www.mcquillantools.ie/bosch-gcm-12-sde-mitre-saw/

    €672.70 from toolstop
    https://www.toolstop.co.uk/bosch-gcm12sde-mitre-saw-sliding-12in-110v-p73385/

    That's 36% more locally. It's a total pisstake.

In answer the the OP I usually find prices good on on powertoolworld.co.uk

    Axminster is usually free.

I am not arguing with the numbers.
This is much broader social context discussion of how we spend our money.

I bridle at giving, in the example above, anything to the Tories and SFA to the local community.

We then ship the stuff in, and the Tory supplied packaging has to be disposed of by your LA, with SFA from the Tory supplier under the polluter pays principle.

IIRC correctly, Amazon and other foreign shops last year added 16,000 tonnes of waste to the Irish system, who knows what the numbers will look like this year.
Keep safe and well in the garden shed :D

If I want to buy something then dumping the box is the furthest thing down my list.

LOL @ "Tory" as a synonym for "English".

I have some excellent German websites to recommend if you're going to take the de Valera line. :pac:

I got my Bosch (irony!) GKS 85 from svh24.de and get most of my Torx Spax screws from baunativ.de because for some reason local suppliers only stock inferior posidrive.

I've been flat out lied to by a local distributor about warranties on power tools. Why should I give business to liars?

But I wish you well with your mission to prop up local capitalists. :D

Local shops fleeced us for years anyway and now want us to show them loyalty.

Tory is an Irish word. Tory island I think means pirate Island.

Have bought power tools from Ray Grahams in the past and have to say they are very good to deal with. Have also bought sheet materials off them and also happy with that.

How much was that? I very nearly bought a bare one for €200 on McQuillans.

Sorry, I wasn't referring to a hedge trimmer.. I had bought table saw, mitre saw and some birch ply. All in all a great experience from time of order to delivery.

I'd recommend against buying second hand. I bought two jigsaws off a character who calls himself the lawnmower man.

they went straight in the skip the motor ran but the blade attachment was gone and you don't find that out until you get the thing home and start working.

I had a similar experience with a 120 compressor and jigsaw I bought office in bray increase of one pallet and then packed it in.

Even if you buy in woodies you might get a bit of run for your money. Parkside and Black and Decker are mainly rubbish.

Presume you mean buying online second hand as opposed to face to face where an inspection is possible.

I’ve got some great deals second hand. For example I picked up a Bosch GCM12SD miter saw with blade set similar to the one listed above for €275 in mint condition. New prices were €700 - €1000.

Keep an eye on Lidl and Aldi over next few weeks, they could have DIY tools on offer.

Lidl are pulling back a bit on selling items that cause the long queues and stampedes, and Aldi will probably follow suit, so that might not happen yet. People can be that dense it may depend on the weather at the time.

I've bought tools online from the below and found them great:

    https://www.dm-tools.co.uk/index.php?fullsite=y&

    https://www.angliatoolcentre.co.uk/

    https://www.caulfieldindustrial.com/

Of course I always Amazon can had good prices especially Amazon Warehouse. I got a 110v DeWalt Core Drill and Henry Hoover with a great discount from Amazon Warehouse and they were still in the box.

    Ferrex 150W Finishing Sander €29.99
    220W Palm Detail Sander €29.99
    430W Random Orbital Sander €29.99

But as said, they could be pulled to prevent massive queues. Which, because this would be before the hardware stores open, I'd say they'll pull it to avoid massive queues!
