Did I miss a memo? Does the word wholesome have to be used to describe every inane thing in existence on Reddit

    Maybe ask over there?
Like on some forum where those questions can be specifically posed?

    Like on r/AskReddit maybe?

    I find it unseemly.

It's a word that the Americans love, that's why you see it on Reddit so much. Shorthand for sane, simple, nice and light. They are in love with the concept, although it's just some fantasy/nostalgia projection most of the time it's used.

It's basically a meme - a viral idea. I think it's a reaction to the amount of aggro about politics you see there. People want something positive to compensate. They've settled on the word wholesome as a sort of branding for all of that. Not much point getting worked up over it.
