    ROS certs

Can you have your ROS on more than one device?

All I can see is transferring it from one device to another.

If you transfer it from one device to another, is it lost on the original device?

No, it’ll still work fine on both

    Lovely

So the wording confused me. Anywhere I look, i mentions transferring, but you can actually copy a cert and assign it to another laptop without losing it on the original...

To log into ROS the cert is loaded into the browser from wherever you have it saved on the device. If you clear the browser history it will delete the cert from the browser but you will still have the original ( or copy of the original ) in whatever folder you saved it on. You can then reload it into the browser at the login screen. I'd also recommend saving the ROS cert elsewhere such as on a USB in case the device that it is on fails. It's easier than going through the process of renewing the cert.

    Thanks,

My main issue/concern wanting to know was can I copy the cert and put it on a new device....

The whole wording around it mentions transfer, which to me, implies moving something off one device and onto another....

But, from the replies here, it seems that you can copy from one device and put onto another device, whilst the original file still remains on the original device, and able to be used.

Back in the pre Covid days, there was hot desking in my office. Whenever I sat at a new computer, I just installed the certificate from my network drive. Never an issue. Dropbox or similar could be a handy solution for you.
