Hi. Looking for advice on behalf of my father who is in his late seventies. Due to a period of ill health earlier in 2019, he sold all his herd of beef animals. We have no animals on the farm at present.

We currently receiving BPS and Glas. He is anxious not to lose his entitlements or the bps payment. He wishes to continue receiving these payments, but is not in a position of health to return to the capacity the farm was once at. Were not in a position to lease the land or change agricultural systems.

Does anyone know what the minium stocking density is to continue receiving these payments, bearing in mind there are only 7 months of the calendar year left. I'd appreciate any advice you may have or where to find more information, thank you!

The ANC (Area of natural constraints) payment stocking rate is 0.15 livestock units per hectare.
There is no minimum stocking rate to get the BPS (Basic payment scheme) money. You just need to keep the land in good agricultural condition, a topper will do this.
A good agricultural consultant will give you advice. Whoever fills out your fathers BPS and Glas applications should be able to advise you.
