    Thanks for that :)

The BANKHOL code wouldn't work for me, I think it might only be for their "summer essentials" range. Still picked up a few good items at a good price

I've gone through 4 or 5 pairs of these. They are grand for walks on paved surfaces and very light. Wouldn't recommend for use on trails etc.

I'd not pay the RRP on them either, they are dreaming. They never are and never will be a €92 shoe. They are always on sale and the most I've paid I think is €25 and got them for as low as €20 and typically get around 4 or 5 months of wear out of them before they hit the bin. Decent value for what amounts to a Sketchers knock off.

That said I'm currently wearing slightly more expensive (€38) Nike runners I got on sportsdirect and have over 200km walked in them in the last month or so and would buy those again over the Regatta ones I think, they are quite similar but the Nike are wearing better from the looks of them.

The sale for the most part is nonsense.

These RRP they tag in are a joke. Who is providing these RRPs :)

thank you so much for this detailed answer.

Id rather spend a few more quid on nikes and get a half decent pair. Sound!

Regatta stuff would be of very poor quality for the most part. The hiking gear might be suitable for a shower when out walking, but not worth a curse if hill walking/hiking etc.

The RRP isn’t the real price. The price they are on sale at is the price they really are.

Yeah, I was set to buy something but there was only one photo. Googled it and found it on amazo - for the same price. Googled 3 other items, they're all available on websites for the Regatta sale price. They aren't marked as discounted on the other sites. If you get 10% off the odd item then fair enough, but imho the 50-70% off is a outright lie and has put me off buying anything from them

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,987 ✭✭✭budhabob

I find their clothing to be excellent in terms of value / quality at the sale prices. What the RRP is doesnt really bother me, its what i pay for the item that counts.

Got two jackets in the last sale and they fell apart, extremely bad quality, put me off the brand

Yeah, absolute scutter of a brand. Always on sale.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,061 ✭✭✭This is it

Did the brand change hands? I thought years ago, 10-15 that Regatta was a too outdoor brand and anything I bought was of good quality. I do know brands change owners and often the quality can drop. Sports Direct is a business modelled on it

Sports Direct is a great example.

A quality business associated with hiking gear finds itself struggling on price against cheap tat. Karrimor is a great example. The quality product (and they were very good) associated with the brand couldn't compete with an obsession for ever cheaper goods. They ran out of money.

Sports Direct buy the brand, and export the manufacture of the product out to the cheapest factory they can find. They still market the product as premium, and take their profit during the goodwill phase. The core market is the first to realise the products they loved are now sh1t. Now Sports Direct move to the 2nd phase. Marketing their rubbish to the rubes who chase a bargain.

Great brand. Quality. At a serious discount. I should buy them at this price because I won't be able to get them at this price again.

Eventually the brand is exhausted, and we move onto the next premium product at stupidly low prices. I should buy them at this price because I won't be able to get them at this price again.

Regatta now is very poor quality. And they have a permanent sale that varies between 50% off and 70% off.
This is not a bargain. Even at the "sale " price. False economy as it is rubbish tat that is not fit for purpose e.g. outdoor activity and won't last.

People saying thing like " I bought three of these and would buy again" If it was anyway decent quality you would only need one and it wouldn't fall apart after a few uses. I have one good quality fleece and one good quality Northface rainjacket that I bought 10 years ago that are still fine. You get what you pay for.

Oh and Karrimor trail shoes used to be very good quality. So disappointed to read post above.

They choose a business model, for the most part that is lead by cutting quality and increase profit margins.
This notion that consumers are driving companies to produce rubbish is itself rubbish. Companies chase bottom lines, some are run better than others. I'm sure some suffer with changes in fashion, but each consumer product suffers and profits from trends.

When investors want quick returns you either increase price, reduce labour costs or use cheaper materials, maybe even all three.
Regatta choose a business model, the market didn't bully them into it.

I would agree with this post. Bought two jackets myself in this sale and didn't pay huge amounts for them so if I get a year or two from them I will be happy enough.

I've bought a few fleeces for peanuts from these over the years and found them really good. Like 15e for a fleece and would keep me lovely and warm when out and about.

Theres a regatta outlet store near where im originally from. I have bought a fair bit from them and everything has lasted as long as any other similar product i have.

There are some items i would only buy quality of, and thats winter jackets and shoes so I cant comment on Regatta products in that area.

Yeah the fleeces are very good for 10 or 15 euro you can't go wrong. People comparing them to North Face that cost many multiples, that all the scumbags in Dublin are louth wear are not being realistic

But the RRP on the fleeces are €50/60/70 so they should be compatible to North Face of similar value, and should be the same quality.

They’re on par with Penney’s for the most part.

I got an order delivered there recently after previously giving up on the brand. Was pleasantly surprised at the quality versus the price. So did another order there now. It's fine stuff for the price you are getting it at. Ignore rrps as always on a sale of some sort but I'm pleasantly surprised with what I got for what I spent.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,155 ✭✭✭Jofspring

Ya I complete ignore the RRP, as I do with RRPs on most products. I can't afford to be spending a lot of money on a jacket. Picked one up two years ago from Regatta for €30. I wear it all the time. It's still in the same nick now as the day I bought it so for me it's fantastic value.

If people can afford to pay more for higher quality jackets then that's up to themselves.

Edit: come to think of it I have a jacket from their dare 2b range that I bought 5 years ago and I still wear it. Think it cost me about €40. It's lovely and warm too.

Inflated RRP's are just so the gurls can boast to their luvies about getting huge discounts at outlets like Kildare Village over a few over priced gins with plenty of foliage in an over rated night spot.

You get what you pay with for with this brand. I wouldn't call the stuff hard wearing but it performs at the level you'd expect for the discounted price.

I have bought a couple of pairs of walking shoes from them in the last few years. I tend to get about 15 months out of them before they become too worn for walking on the roads I then wear them for cutting the grass and doing work around the house. Consider they usually cost circa €40 I'm happy with that level of performance.

Absolutely. But Regatta/Great Outdoors is a mixed bag too.
I don’t shop in Penney’s but they do some great kids clothes, my son loves Mario and Sonic and they often have really good quality t shirts and hoodies, but 80% of what’s there is low quality IMO - which is fine if you just want high turnover of cheap clothes

Just had a delivery of my first order i must say i have been online shopping for 10 plus years and never had this happen to me... i bought in cheap aliexpres and expensive brand stores online and you would expect if you buy cheap that you risk getting trash on sites like aliexpres but i tough regatta is at least true to their advertisement...

Please see pictures below what you receive it totally different from the pictures on site...
