A mountain to climb (pun intended if you've read the article).

As a user of google contacts, google calendar, google keep, google maps, google duo, gmail, google photos, google news, google drive, wear OS and 3 google smart devices in my house, I can't see myself moving.

Chinese firm with strong ties to Chinese government? I’ll pass, thanks.

well that was going to be an obvious comment.

not so sure the deal with the google devil is so good either.

anyways - would be good to have some competition in the "let them know everything for free apps" marketplace

Google Auto would be the big miss for me, but I think I could live without everything else, or workaround. Here maps is an excellent replacement for Google Maps, even in the early days of maps on phones, when it was Nokia.
Gmail is always going to be accessible via browser. I don't really play many games on my phone, so any incompatibility would be minimal.

YouTube would be an irritant, but it's becoming increasingly crap anyway with ads everywhere.

I have enough old phones to use with chromecast at home and have two Google smart speaker things still sat there in their box.

I could see myself moving if there was a significant price advantage (for similar headsets) in doing so. Do Huawei have the margins to do that though? They're competitively priced already.

Oh well, give me an easy life and a peaceful death.

Great to have competition, but I wouldn't move to a google free platform.
