Hi what is the most effective product for preventing ticks. It's usually not a problem for me but because of the present restrictions I've had to change where I take the dog for exercise. Thanks.

I'm sure u can buy some drops perhaps to put onto ur dogs neck? I'm not 100% sure, I might be getting mixed up with something else.

But every time u take ur dog for a walk, in an environment were ticks are, you should check ur dog all over for them.

Some supermarkets have the tick drops you put on the dog's neck beside the pet suppliers, 5 or 6 Euro wash the dog with dog shampoo regularly as well, check you r self for ticks bites can be nasty

Got to your vet, I use simparica, comes as tablet form. Hate giving chemicals but don't want fleas or ticks either, there drontal and frontline that I can think of also, don't use the cheap ones from supermarkets a lot of dogs have had bad reactions to them.

Bravecto from your vet (oral tablet, lats 3 months, prevents tick borne diseases such as Lyme disease - these are not prevented by the drops applied to the back of the neck). Seresto/Scalibor collars - last 8 months and also work for fleas and repel biting flies.

Had one in my upper leg last week, didn't realise they were so small, sunny weather got them out early I guess

This may sound like a silly question, but when I am looking for Ticks on my Dogs neck, is it an actual insect or is it embedded in the Dogs skin ?

I use tropiclean shampoo from spring to autumn and it helps a lot. Tick free since I started using it

Do those tabs just work for dogs or could you give a handful to a bullock?

They aren’t alway black, we took a beige one from our dog last week.

They're only black when they've filled with blood, if they're light coloured they've only recently attached. By the time they've filled with blood if they're carrying disease such as Lyme disease they have probably transmitted it already. Better to use a preventive than to remove them when they become visible or use a shampoo.

I am no vet but the dosage is done by weight, so it would cost more in tablets for them than you would get back selling/harvesting the bullock. Not sure if there is a bovine equivalent. So dog tablets I would say even if there were no side affects or actually work it wouldnt be worth it.
