Disposing of camcorder tapes???

I have a box of MiniDV tapes that I need to dispose of. The footage has been saved to a hard drive and a back up hard drive and family have received it on DVDs over e years. I don’t see any need to hold onto them and it isn’t practical space wise. I can’t sell them obviously and I no longer have a working camcorder to…

I have a box of MiniDV tapes that I need to dispose of.

The footage has been saved to a hard drive and a back up hard drive and family have received it on DVDs over e years.

I don’t see any need to hold onto them and it isn’t practical space wise. I can’t sell them obviously and I no longer have a working camcorder to erase or record over the footage - and I honestly just would spend my time to do it.

I also would not be comfortable just dumping them in the wheelie bin as I would like to know they’ve been destroyed. I know the plastic case can be recycled and that the reel of tape cannot but I don’t know about anything else in it.

Anybody know what I should do?
