Hi there does anyone know if the following article holds true with respect of BIK payments due on a classic car purchase by a company for a director.
    https://www.irishtimes.com/business/the-classic-way-to-slash-bik-on-a-company-car-1.139193

    Thanks

THe basic method of computing BIK on a vompany car has not changed, i..e it is still based on Original Market Value. This means that it penalises those who acquire a secondhand car but likely will provide a measure of relief to someone whose car had an OMV lower than its current value(such as a very old classic).

This was a brief thing back in the boom days of the 90s ( who else remembers those ! ).
However the practicalities of running a classic as their everyday company car I think outweighed the benefits and it seemed to fizzle out.

    Appreciate the replies.
Have decided am going to go down this route and am looking at a MB W201 190E 2.5 16 COSWORTH AUTO .. Most prob a 1990 vintage though lhd as the manual rhd in the half leather option I'm looking for are like hens teeth and v pricey.
Where would someone find the omsp for these older cars.. Is there a central resource or some such?. Thanks

You could try Revenue's VRT calculator. That gives OMSP when determining VRT.
I couldn't find W201 but nearest was 190E 2.5 (although that came up as a dsl ? ) That gave OMSP as €39,887. Would that car be likely to have cost over £30K in 1990? You can edit the details if I'm off the mark on the model.

They also have a guide on determining OMSP here :-

Interestingly there is one like ( I think) what you're looking at here on a UK site it's Danish reg and £22,900 is current asking.
