    Hi,

I was doing some work out the back garden today, I had the power hose out. I must have disturbed a hive with the power hose. It's in a pile of rocks. I noticed a few flying around me, but after a while they were pretty much all gone again.

See the links below for pics:

This is the gap they were in, but after a while they disappeared inside.

    A few individual shots:

The rocks are in a pile where a water feature is, into a pond. I plan on reinstating the water feature & pond. What to do with the hive?

    Thanks for any input!

They are a solitary bee, recognize them but couldn't name them.

They don't do hives, may congregate but aren't collective, may have been sheltering there.

I' say they're hoverflies. Could be wrong but as they appear to only have two wings that would rule out any type of bee.

I have a friend who has something similar moved into a hole in his lawn. He said there was quite a swarm when they moved in but there was very little activity when I visited - sunny, early afternoon. Another beekeeper suggested burrowing bees.

Thanks for the replies, haven't seen much of them today, I just didn't want to be disturbing them. I'll leave them alone anyway!

    I'd also go with Hoverflies
